OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2011. Belarus plans to increase the excise tax rate on vodka 12.3% to 24.890 Belarusian rubles (Br) per liter of absolute alcohol in finished products on June 1, 2011, a source in the administration of the country stated.

The excise tax rate on alcoholic beverages with alcohol content from 7% to 28% is expected to be increased 48.5%, on cognac, brandy, calvados and cognac beverages 33.2%, on original beverages with alcohol content over 28% produced in cultural centers, 120%.

The same document increases excise tax rates on fortified wines, beer and cigarettes starting June 1.

Belarus approved excise tax rates on spirit, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and cigarettes, buses, passenger cars, diesel and oil in 2011 by law #174-3 of October 15, 2010.
