OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2011. Specialists have started building the pile foundation for the Russian National Sliding Center’s refrigerating plant.
The backbone of the refrigeration supply system is the ammonia plant. Its building will be located 140 m away from the track base and will comprise a control station and service rooms for compressors, pumps and refrigerant storage containers.

The refrigerating plant and the track will be connected by main ammonia pipelines about 200 m long, laid underground. The ammonia center’s operator will receive online information about ice temperature and weather conditions, control the refrigeration supply system operation, change the refrigeration degree at any part of the track and maintain the ice coating condition optimal for athletes.

Construction of the reinforced concrete base of the track and ground protection is underway at the Russian National Sliding Center. An experimental track section 12 m long has been completed by now, which was highly appreciated by an international committee’s experts.

Apart from the artificially cooled chute, the complex comprises a few buildings and structures of engineering and auxiliary purposes. Scheduled project commissioning – 2012. Delivering agency – SC "Olympstroy".
