OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2011. The issues related to further intensification of Turkmen-Finnish partnerships were discussed during a meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the members of the delegations led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Turkmenistan Mrs. Tuula Yrjola, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital.

Exchanging views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation, the diplomat underscored the existing tremendous potential to enhance mutually advantages partnerships and called for fostering intergovernmental contacts at the bi- and multi-lateral level within the EU and OSCE international structures. The trade and economic, fuel and energy sector and the cultural sphere were identified as the priority vectors of partnerships between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Finland. Mrs. Tuula Yrjola emphasized that largest Finnish companies sought to expand on the Turkmen market that was attractive particularly due to the innovative, progressive policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the conditions conducive to enhancing mutually advantageous business relations in the country.

The agenda of the meeting at the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources focused on the issues related to the possibilities to strengthen collaboration in the fuel and energy sector as consistent with Turkmenistan’s strategy for diversifying this basic sector of the national economy.

The Finnish delegation was received at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting, where the prospects for expanding Turkmen-Finnish cooperation were discussed.
