OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2011. In the 1st quarter of 2011, personal property insurance compensations paid by IC ROSNO grew by 2.8%, as compared to the same period of the previous year, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The largest share of insurance compensations (over 78%, or 15.7 mln. roubles) pertained to reimbursement of damage under the fire risk, although this risk accounted for only one quarter of all settled insured accidents.

In terms of frequency of losses in the abovementioned time period, floods led with 34% of all insured accidents; however the damage caused by them was not as serious as the one from fires. The total amount of insurance compensations paid to insurants under the flood risk exceeded 3.2 mln. roubles. Among the risks which are widespread, but not catastrophic for the insurant, are: theft and unlawful actions of third parties (vandalism, glass breakage, etc.). The total amount of insurance compensations paid under these risks is about 400 thousand roubles.

"The share of the majority of common risks (fire, flood, and theft) in the company’s compensation payment structure is relatively stable, subject to very slight fluctuations independent of the season. Nevertheless, there are traditional seasonal risks, such as fires caused by spring grass arsons", comments Ms. Elena Shatayeva, Deputy Head of ROSNO’s Personal and Property Insurance Loss Settlement Department. — This winter, unlike the previous years, many insured accidents happening to our clients resulted from weather anomalies, where damage is covered by natural disaster insurance. Among those are: roofs collapsing due to snow pressure; falling trees, transmission towers collapsing due to ice crust. Even now, we continue receiving such loss proofs from those insurants, who are revisiting their summer houses in the spring and discover the consequences of these insured accidents."
