OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2011. Vice President Huang Dan led a delegation to conduct a 10-day visit and market investigation in three countries in Middle East, including United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Qatar, reported the press-centre of MCC Group.

In UAE, Huang Dan and her delegation members investigated the engineering contracting market in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. They visited several local partners such as Technip and Masaood, and held negotiation on collaboration in jointly bidding for large-scale projects in UAE. The delegation also conducted friendly discussion with Dubai Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd. (ICBC), and learned about ICBC’s capital planning and supportive policies applied to the Sino-funded enterprises and engineering projects in Middle East. In addition, an internal conference was presided over by Vice President Huang Dan. At the meeting, Huang was debriefed by chiefs of Middle East Branch on the market exploration in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and listened to the report made by chief of the 17th China Metallurgical Construction Group (17MCC Group) on the project implementation progress of Kuwait University City. Afterwards Huang and the attendees studied the key tasks and difficulties encountered during project execution and gave instructions on the work in the follow-up stage.

In Saudi Arabia, the delegation members paid visit to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. They particularly learned in details the relevant information regarding the iron mine project and conducted several rounds of negotiations with the Ministry of Mines, the Employer, London Mining Plc. and the relevant intermediary agents. In this regard, Changtian International Engineering Corporation of MCC (CIE) and China ENFI Engineering Corp. (ENFI) fielded technical missions to carry out detailed investigation on the technical conditions of the project site.

The delegation also visited quite a few local cooperative partners and major agents, holding discussion on joint collaboration in bidding for large-sized projects in Saudi Arabia. Huang and the delegation members paid visit to the Ministry of Industries and Mines, conducting view-exchange and discussion on the transformation project of the relevant steel plants. They interviewed with officials of Ministry of Housing and held talks on participation of the housing projects promoted by the local government, and by seizing such a valuable opportunity, the delegation opened up a new important channel to explore the housing market in Saudi Arabia. The delegation visited Tuwairqi Holding, exchanged views on the transformation and expansion projects of the steel plant, and inspected the jobsite. In addition, an internal conference was presided over by Vice President Huang Dan. At the meeting, Huang was debriefed by chiefs of Middle East Branch and subsidiaries in Saudi Arabia on the market exploration, and conducted research and deployment on the tasks to be undertaken in the next stage.

In Qatar, Huang Dan and her delegation paid a visit to the official residence of the Prime Minister, and gave an introduction to the outstanding strength and strong willing of MCC Limited in participation of the large-scale local engineering projects. This has further contribute to the establishment of MCC’s corporate image in the market of Middle East, and built up a perfect channel for MCC to take part in the local construction works with a higher starting point. The delegation members also held a talk with Zhang Zhiliang, Chinese Ambassador to Qatar, and Business Counselor He Dongyang. Huang made a briefing on the current business situation and planning in the next step in Qatar, learned about the economic development trend and marketing information, as well as the recommendations on engineering contracting business in the local market. Huang extended sincere gratitude to the Embassy on the everlasting support and assistance offered to MCC Limited in the past long period. During their stay in Qatar, the delegation members called on the local cooperative partners such as Redco and Eurtec, and conducted discussion on the possibility of joint bidding for large engineering project in Qatar.

Through this visit which was arranged in a tight and orderly manner, the delegation has: (i) carried out in-depth inspection on the business performance; (ii) acquired a better understanding on the market in Middle East; (iii) established friendly relation and high-level cooperative channel with the government authorities, employers, agents and the local enterprises; (iv) gained confidence and support from the local communities; and (v) conducted beneficial discussions on the work in the next stage. Moreover, the delegation members visited the branch companies and offices in Middle East, and conveyed the best regards to the staff for the perfect performance under tough conditions.

They encouraged the staff to seize every opportunities to improve the working expertise and make greater contribution to the overseas business of MCC Group.
