OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2011. Tatneft applies a method of drilling, cementing and developing downhole splitters, which allows performing the activities of recompletion of the wells in the overlying or underlying horizons in order to increase oil production from the downhole splitters providing for better involvement of layers into production. This is just like discovery of new deposits in the areas under development, reported the press-centre of Tatneft.

This technology developed by the specialists of TATNEFT and TatNIPIneft involves drilling into the main wellbore to the top of the upper reservoir with the zenith angle build-up and subsequent casing setting and cementing. Following this deepening of the wellbore is performed to place the wellbore in the most productive reservoir thickness with setting expandable casing pipes with the packers fixed on them isolating pay zones from each other and after that completion operations are performed. Further drilling is carried out successively with securing additional wellbores by expandable casing pipes and with their completion from the bottom to the top of the upper reservoir. In this case, the earlier drilled and completed wellbores are isolated from the additional hole being drilled by the removable whipstock. The technology allows increasing productivity of wells resulting from preservation of the reservoir properties and exclusion of the liners cementing operations, as well as from the possibility to apply the dual completion and operation technology.

The method applied considerably simplifies the downhole splitters drilling technology, allows for ongoing monitoring of the state of each individual wellbore in the process of the work being done. This technology not only increases production performance of wells, but also reduces the time, labor and material expenses for drilling, casing and completion of the downhole splitter wells.

Depending on the number of extra wellbores the cost-effectiveness of the method application amounts to 9-12 million rubles per well.
