OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2011. Transaero Airlines, Russia's second-largest passenger air carrier, announced today the increase in the size of its fleet to 60 aircraft as it took delivery of new generation Boeing 747-400 wide-body long-haul aircraft. The newly acquired aircraft brings the number of Boeing 747 aircraft that Transaero operates to15.

The Boeing 747-400 seats 522 passengers - 16 in business class and 506 in economy class. The aircraft will be operated on routes to high demand tourist destinations.

With the new aircraft Transaero's fleet currently comprises 15 Boeing 747s, 8 Boeing 777s, 12 Boeing 767s, 22 Boeing 737s and 3 Tu-214 aircraft. In total, wide-body, long-haul aircraft now account for 35 of Transaero's total fleet. Furthermore, Transaero will continue its fleet expansion with the delivery of more aircraft in the near future.

The purchase of the new aircraft has further contributed to Transaero's leading positions as the largest operator of long-haul wide-body aircraft in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.
