OREANDA-NEWS. May 10, 2011. BM&FBOVESPA and Discovery Networks - a global leader in nonfiction media - announced a partnership on Thursday to promote and disseminate financial education concepts to children. The partnership consists of airing the series O Porco e o Magro (Pig and Slim) within the Discovery na Escola programming block, broadcast by the Discovery Channel, from Monday to Friday at 11.00 a.m.. The series will air twice a week, as of June. BM&FBOVESPA Chief Executive Officer Edemir Pinto and Discovery Networks Director-General and senior vice-president Fernando Medin took part in the event, at the Espaco Raymundo Magliano Filho Visitors’ Center in central Sao Paulo.

The first and second seasons of O Porco e o Magro willbe broadcast, totaling 20 videos.  These  episodes are part of the Turma da Bolsa program, which has Porco and Magro as central characters. Porco is a middle-aged professor with a degree in economics from Harvard. Magro is 28 years old and studied at the fictitious Escola de Magropolis. A bungler when it comes to managing his everyday budgeting, Magro follows the guidance of the specialist pig and learns in practice how to develop healthy financial behavior.
