OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2011. Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra), the largest infrastructure player in power transmission and distribution in Mumbai has energized its three new 220kV EHV substations located at Gorai, Goregaon and Saki.

Commissioning of these extra high voltage substations will also help in significantly reducing losses, match to the increasing demand and reaching nearer to the consumers. .Mumbai consumers can now be ensured of enhanced quality and reliability of power supply.

To reiterate, there were no significant capacity additions on Mumbai transmission system for years together despite the continuous growth in demand. This had stretched the existing system to the maximum extent.

Now, commissioning of these extra high voltage substations will also ensure substantial relief to Mumbai's power distribution system, as it would ease the congestion happening in availability of High Tension outlets to distribution utilities.

This will also bring relief to the intrastate power transmission system as it would help in significantly enhancing the reliability, reducing losses, match to the increasing demand and reaching near to the consumers.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Lalit Jalan, CEO & Whole-Time Director of Reliance Infrastructure Limited said, "We are committed to create world class transmission network for Mumbai to meet its growing infrastructural needs. We would endeavour to ensure timely capacity additions for evacuation of power to facilitate all around growth of the city."

With this, RInfra would be having total six extra high voltage substations to meet growing power needs of the city. Earlier, RInfra had its three extra high voltage substations located at Ghodbunder, Aarey Colony and Versova.
