OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2011. It was said by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Moldova Valerii Lazar at the first meeting of the group held on Friday. At the Ministry of Economy’s request, each central state authority, responsible for regulation and control of prices and tariffs, will look into the situation in the subordinated sector and will make suggestions regarding unification of the legislative base within two weeks.

Later they will be examined, evaluated and presented for consideration of the parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance to be discussed and passed urgently. It was said that there is no single legislative base of price formation, the fact that makes it difficult to coordinate prices for a number of products and services, some of which are approved by independent regulating structures, others – by the government, ministries and even market operators themselves.

Valerii Lazar said each market and even certain goods and services are to be studied to unify regulation principles and bring them in line with Moldova’s obligations within the WTO and EU standards, according to him, the methodologies of price formation for different goods and services should be approved on the government level, and sector tariffs will be calculated and approved on their basis.
