OREANDA-NEWS. May 17, 2011. The Belarusian government does not rule out a reduction in financing of the state forestry development program for 2011-2015 by 35%-40%, Deputy Prime Minister Valery Ivanov told reporters.

“Now that we observe reductions in financing of state programs from budget funds, the forestry sector will also see a decrease in financing,” he said, adding that most of the cuts would be in road construction.

He said the number of new roads would remain at 150, however, it is planned to use affordable materials only.

The vice-premier specified that the reduction would be by 35%-40%.

It was originally planned that the industry would attract 1 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br) in investments in 2011-2015.

Of the total, about 600 billion rubles were supposed to be channeled into modernization.
