OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2011. The Nizhny Novgorod Refinery (LLC LUKOIL-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez), part of LUKOIL Group, has started manufacturing Euro-5 motor gasoline.

It became possible due to the commissioning of a hydrofluoric alkylation unit as part of the catalytic cracking complex.

The content of aromatic hydrocarbons in the new gasoline does not exceed 35%, while the content of sulfur does not exceed 10 mg/kg. Such gasoline ensures the so-called “clean exhaust” and minimizes sulfur oxide content and incomplete combustion products of aromatic hydrocarbons, including benzpyrene, the most carcinogenic and mutagenic substance, in the exhaust gases.

It is expected that by the end of 2011 the Nizhny Novgorod Refinery will produce 1 million tons of motor gasoline more compared to the 2010 level when gasoline production at the refinery exceeded 2.1 million tons.

As it was reported earlier, the Nizhny Novgorod Refinery launched production of Euro-4 motor gasoline in December 2010.
