OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2011. Severstal Columbus earned its second Best Practices Award from East Mississippi Community College (EMCC).

It was presented during the college’s 22nd annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon, which honors companies for their contributions to the economic vitality of the Golden Triangle area.

The awards recognize organizations that provide outstanding examples of workforce training, quality management and business practices and can serve as models for others. Severstal Columbus previously won a Best Practices Award in 2009. Last year, the company also received the Director’s Award, which is EMCC’s top honor for excellence in workforce training, management and world-class processes.

“We are delighted to be recognized by EMCC with this award. It is a validation of our efforts and commitment to this community. We are thankful to all our employees, customers, suppliers and community leaders for their loyalty and support as we strive to build a world-class mini-mill operation”, commented Wilbur Winland, Vice President and General Manager, Severstal Columbus.
