OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2011. Ansteel Heavy Machinery succeeded in the casting of the upper rim for the runner of the 312000kW hydro-turbine at the pumped storage power station in Ludington, USA. This upper rim was cast successfully by one time, filling the domestic gap in the similar technology, reported the press-centre of Ansteel.

This upper rim is an extra-low-carbon stainless steel product with a largest piece weight which was produced since the relocation and modification of the steel casting factory. Four ladles of liquid steel weighing 350 tons were casting together at the same time.

In the history of steel casting production, this was the first time to use the very complex process and technology. During the production period, the project-related people cooperated whole heartedly in the careful operation and solved effectively various problems in the casting moulding.
