OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2011. In January-April, 2011 the volume of a cargo transportation in Moldova has made 2623,4 thousand tons, 43,4 %% more than for the similar period of 2010. As National bureau of statistics has informed, in particular, indicator growth has been provided due to increase in volumes of a cargo transportation by railway transport - by 44,7 % (to 1472,5 thousand tons) and motor transport - by 42,2 % (to 1126,3 thousand tons).

The greatest share in total amount of the cargoes shipped at railway stations in January-April 2011 was grain and flour production - 53,4 % (in January-April 2010 - 21,7 %), ferrous metals and scrap metal - 11,4 % (37,2 %), building materials and cement - 10,2 % (8 %). The Most part of automobile cargo transportation was carried out by the enterprises from Chisnau (67,9 %) and Balts (12,6 %).

By river transport was transported 24,2 thousand tons of cargo, 24,1 % more in comparison with January-April, 2010 Volume of air cargo transportation also has grown - by 26,2 % - to 0,4 thousand tons.
