OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2011. Belarus has suspended supplies of milk whey and dry milk to Russia. The agreement was reached at a meeting between the chairman of the board of the National union of dairy producers of Russia Andrei Danilenko and Belarusian Agriculture Minister Mikhail Rusy.

The move targets stabilization of procurement prices of raw milk and dairy products in Russia.

The Belarusian ministry also promised to temporarily halt cheese supplies to Russia from specific companies if supplies at prices lower than agreed indicative prices were detected.

It is also planned to establish a joint dairy company and a mechanism to supply dry dairy products, cheese and butter to Russia from Belarus via authorized Belarusian companies and Russian commodity exchange.
