OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2011. Enterprises subordinate to the Agriculture Ministry of the country increased export of farm products 19.4% on the year in January-March 2011 to USD 583.3 million, and import reached USD 149.2 million, up 4.9%, an official in the ministry stated.

The rise in exports was owing to the increase in prices and higher volume of supplies.

Dairy products accounted for 52.6% of all exports, meat and meat products 35.9%, casein 2.7%, and eggs 2%.

Exports to Russia reached USD 530.9 million, up 17.1%, to other CIS countries were at USD 29.4 million, up 80%, to foreign non-CIS states USD 22.9 million, up 15.3%, including USD 19.3 million worth of exports to the EU, up 1.8%.

Exports were to 37 countries of the world in January-March 2011, compared with 35 countries in the same period of 2010.

Foreign trade surplus came to USD 256.7 million in the first three months of the year. In January-April, foreign trade showed a surplus of USD 378.4 million.
