OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2011. Bank of China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mashreq signed a cooperative agreement in Dubai to set up a "Chinese Desk". Under the agreement, Bank of China will arrange its staff at Mashreq to provide financial services to the "go global" Chinese enterprises, reported the press-centre of Bank of China.

To celebrate,  Mashreq held a grand opening ceremony in Dubai, which was attended by more than 200 people including Zhan Jingbao, the Chinese Consul General in Dubai, leaders from Bank of China Corporate Banking Department and Mashreq International Financial Services Department, and representatives from the UAE banking sector, industry and commerce sector and Chinese enterprises in UAE.

As one of Bank of China's innovations to expand its global service network, the "Chinese Desk" is set up in countries or regions without Bank of China's business branches, operating through the bank's staff stationed in its correspondent banks to provide all-around financial services to "go global" Chinese enterprises by making full use of the resources of its overseas correspondent banks. The "Chinese Desk" established in Dubai is the fourth of its kind after that in Oman, Ghana and Peru.

As the most internationalized commercial bank in China, Bank of China has a total of 711 overseas business branches and offices, with its service network covering Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and 31 foreign countries and regions.

Established in 1967, Mashreq is the largest private bank in UAE and has a widespread service network in the Mideast, committed to the development of Asian market.
