OREANDA-NEWS. June 01, 2011. Uralmashplant has already dispatched first pieces of equipment to Kuzbassrazrezugol CC via railway. As provided by the contract signed in July 2010, Gazprombank Leasing Company shall lease the Uralmashplant EKG-18 excavator to Kuzbassrazrezugol Coal Company JSC.

EKG -18 excavator (open-pit crawler-mounted excavator with 18m3 of bucket cubic capacity) - is a new Uralmashplant machine whereat some design features of the EKG-1500Р excavator, the machine developed by Uralmashplant specialists earlier, have been adopted.

To reduce specific operating and energy costs, the EKG-18 is equipped with AC drive, as compared to the previous model. With due consideration of EKG -1500Р operating experience, it is planned to increase power of hoisting and thrusting drives, as well as carrying capacity of specific units and parts of the machine. Plus, the new excavator features information system, advanced control and monitoring systems, which have been commonly used at Uralmashplant machines in recent years. The systems will enable the operator to monitor performance parameters of the excavator units, to identify basic technological parameters and to protect excavator units and systems from erroneous actions of the operator, which may cause overload and failure of the machine.

Contractual delivery and commissioning of the machine into trial and commercial operation are scheduled for October 2011. The machine is used for row overburden operations at one of the company open-pit mines.
