As it was informed by the National Bureau of Statistics, according to the methodology of the International Labour Office, the number of unemployed in the I quarter of 2011 totaled 107.2 thousand, which is by 5,1 thousand more than in January-March 2010, unemployment among men was 11,9% (64,3% of the total number of unemployed), female - 6,9%.

In urban areas unemployment was 8,8% (62,4% of all unemployed people) in rural areas - 10%. Among young people (15-24 years) unemployment rate reached 19.2%. In the I quarter of 2011 the economically active population amounted to nearly 1 million 137.7 thousand, an increase of 1,3% compared to the same period in 2010

The number of employed amounted to nearly 1 million 030.5 thousand people that on 0,8% more than in January-March 2010, largest number of the employed population is in agriculture - 211.2 thousand people (20,5% of total employment), a decrease by 12,4 thousand people (5.6%) compared to the same period last year. Non-agricultural sector employs 819.4 thousand persons, which is 2,5% more than in I quarter of 2010.

Industry employed 14.3% of employed in the national economy, construction - 4,2%. More than 60% of the employed population in January-March 2011 worked in private enterprises, 32,8% - in public, 7,1% - in the mixed.
