OREANDA-NEWS. June 6, 2011. Consumer inflation in Belarus is projected to reach 33%-39% in 2011 if the exchange rate remains within the band set by the National Bank, Deputy Economy Minister Andrei Tur said when speaking to MPs of both chambers of parliament on Friday.

According to him, this inflation rate won’t be exceeded if “the situation on the currency market remains stable and the exchange rate of the ruble fluctuates within the band set by the NBB [+/-2% on the cash and OTC markets and +/-12% around the basket – Prime-Tass].

Tur also said inflation could reach 15% in January-May 2011.

Tur said Belarus could see revaluation of the ruble in the future if the action plan of the government to stabilize the situation on the money market was efficient. “Revaluation is quite probable,” Tur said.
