OREANDA-NEWS. June 6, 2011. Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov on Thursday called on investors from Belarus and Kazakhstan to open agricultural production companies in Russia’s eastern regions for the purpose of exporting food products to countries of the Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

The export of food products to quickly developing economies opens up a lot of opportunities for Russia, as well as for Belarus and Kazakhstan as members of a common customs space, Shuvalov said.

Speaking about the potential for food exports by those countries, Russia’s Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said that Russia planned to export a total of up to 600,000 tonnes of meat products by 2020.
