OREANDA-NEWS. June 8, 2011. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Navratna PSU and the Central Transmission Utility of the Country, has reported a net profit of Rs.2697 Crore for the financial year 2010-11, a 32% rise as compared to the previous year’s profit of Rs. 2041 Crore. The turnover of the Company rose to Rs. 9100 Crore from Rs. 7504 Crore, up by 21%.

In this financial year the Company’s Earnings per Share (EPS) increased to Rs. 6.19 as compared to an EPS of Rs. 4.85 for previous fiscal. Transmission Assets worth Rs. 7313 crore commissioned during the year as compared to Rs. 3610 crore for the previous year.

POWERGRID operated around 82,336 ckt. kms. of transmission lines along with 135 Sub-stations as on March 31, 2011. Average availability of transmission systems during the year 2010-11 was maintained at 99.90% with the use of state-of-the-art preventive maintenance techniques. POWERGRID continues to wheel about 50% of total power generated in the country through its transmission network.
