RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results: June 6-10, 2011

OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2011. Over the week of June 6-10, 2011, the RTS Index went up by 3.66% to reach 1,926.02 points (1,858.08 points as of June 3, 2011). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 19.27 points) followed by ordinary shares of Rosneft (ROSNS) (plus 7.28 points) and Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 7.18 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 3.85% to reach 11,448.29 points (11,023.66 points as of June 3, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 1.01% closing at 2,202.88 points (2,180.91 points as of June 3, 2011).

Last week’s growth on the stock market was accompanied by a slight increase of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went up by 0.89% to reach 24.85 points (24.63 points as of June 35, 2011).

Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 4.37%. In addition, a significant growth was showed by oil & gas and finance sectors, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index and RTS Finances Index going up by 4.00% and 2.74% respectively. A decline was reported only by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index losing 0.56%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 1.13%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.21% against the ruble to reach 27.70 rubles per US dollar (28.04 rubles as of June 3, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of June 6-10, 2011 equaled USD10.21 billion (283.54 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,237.96 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD950.07 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD619.98 million and ordinary shares of OAO “LUKOIL” (LKOH) with a turnover of USD170.96 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 41.88%, 27.33% and 7.54% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC Concern "KALINA" (KLNA) that went up by 26.58% to USD50.00, followed by ordinary shares of "Bank "Saint-Petersburg" OJSC  (STBK) – by 24.88% to reach USD5.37 and JSC "OGK-4" (OGKD) that added 9.38% to reach USD0.09.

The week's top losers were preferred shares of Sberbank  (SBERP)  that fell 9.02% to reach USD2.5475 followed by Russian Depositary Receipt (RDR) of Sberbank representing rights on ordinary registered shares of United Company RUSAL Plc (RUAL) that lost 4.20% to reach USD13.90 and  ordinary shares of ОJSC "Magnit" (MGNT) that lost 4.20% to reach USD137.00.
