OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2011. Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (LSE: NCSP, RTS & MICEX: NMTP) reports consolidated operating results for May 2011.

To ensure comparability with previous periods the cargo statistics have been adjusted for the volumes handled by Primorsk Trade Port Ltd., which was acquired by NCSP Group in January 2011.

Taking into account this adjustment, NCSP Group recorded turnover growth in the following cargo categories:

·         iron ore and ore concentrate – by 130.5 thousand tons (119.9%);

·         oil products – by 370.2 thousand tons (36.6%);

·         mineral fertilizers – by 70.9 thousand tons (36.2%);

·         containers – by 80.2 thousand tons (23.9%);

·         sugar – by 46.5 thousand tons (17.1%).

We note that the Group’s container traffic in TEU terms in May 2011 increased by 48.1% versus the same period last year and totaled 59.0 thousand TEU. This includes growth of the container handling at OJSC NLE, OJSC NCSP and PJSC BSC terminals by 76%, 43% and 22% respectively.

NCSP Group’s total cargo turnover in the reporting period amounted to 13 575.4 thousand tons which represents a 0.2% decrease versus April 2011 and a 2.4% decrease versus May 2010.

Bulk cargo volumes in the reporting period declined by 504.7 thousand tons or -37.7% versus the same period last year, due to the grain export ban.

However contraction of grain handling volumes of 761.4 thousand tons was partially compensated by growing volumes of iron ore and ore concentrate, sugar, cement and mineral fertilizers.

Liquid cargo volumes in May 2011 totaled 11 387.4 thousand tons. Crude oil volumes in the reporting period totaled 9 944.9 thousand tons, which is 2.6% below the volumes of the same period last year. To the contrary, as stated above, handling of oil products increased by 36.6% versus April 2010.

General cargo traffic in May 2011 totaled 929.7 thousand tons, representing a 7.8 thousand ton, or a -0,8% reduction versus the month of May last year.
