OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2011. A session of intergovernmental joint commission of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia on control over execution of the agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology, culture, sports and youth fair was held in Tashkent.

Representatives of ministries and departments, companies of two states, specializing in foreign economic relations, investments, oil and gas, trade and industry, science and education, tourism, chemistry, healthcare and other sectors participated at the event.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Uzbekistan, co-chairperson of the commission Rustam Azimov underlined gradual development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia in trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Chairperson of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) and co-chairperson of the commission Amr Al Dabbagh said that Saudi Arabia is one of states, which actively invest into economies of other states. He added that the country is planning to implement perspective projects in cooperation with Uzbekistan.

During the session, the sides considered issues of expanding and strengthening trade-economic and investment cooperation, developing and implementing mutual beneficial projects.

The sides also paid attention to issues of expanding mutual trade turnover and number of joint ventures, as well as execution of projects at Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

After the forum, the businesses of two states participated at the business forum and cooperation exchange.
