OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2011. Tata Power, in its continuing efforts to light up the lives of the people around its areas of operation, organised a polio immunisation programme for children — in the age group of 0 – 5 years — of workers from the nearby villages working for plant and township construction of Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL). CGPL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company and a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed for the 4,000MW Mundra UMPP. The programme, conducted by the medical team of CGPL in association with district health office of Bhuj, benefited 103 children from nearby villages.

Speaking on the initiative, Alok Kanagat, executive director, CGPL, said, “The polio immunisation programme is part of our community development initiative focusing on healthcare and wellbeing of communities around our project site. We are also happy that the initiative undertaken to support the national programme on polio eradication has received appreciation from both district and state health departments.”

CGPL is involved in a variety of community development projects in and around its operation area.
