OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2011. The Moldovan economy has continued recording a sustained growth pace in the first quarter of 2011, seeing an 8.4-per-cent rise in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to official data.

Prime Minister Vlad Filat confirmed the 8.4-per-cent increase at a today's cabinet meeting.

In the fourth quarter of 2010, the Moldovan economy registered a 4.6-per-cent growth in annual pace, after an 8-per-cent increase in the third quarter. Moldova's GDP increased by 6.9 per cent on the whole in 2010; this is one of the highest rise in the region.

The economy entered a ground of stable growth, the Economics Ministry has recently said. The government forecasts a 5-per-cent increase in 2011 and the World Bank a 4.5-per-cent one. Yet, experts said that Moldova achieved a twice higher increase in 2010 against the forecast one, and the situation may repeat in 2011. Viitorul think tank experts predict a 5.6-per-cent growth in 2011.
