OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2011. Latvian national airline airBaltic carried 326,204 passengers in May 2011 (from Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn), representing 10% increase comparing with the same month in 2010, when airBaltic transported 295,809 passengers. In May this year, the number of passengers at the base of airBaltic in Riga has increased by 18% compared to the same period last year.

During the five months of 2011, airBaltic transported a total of 1,222,873 passengers, or 8% more than during the same period in 2010, when the total number of passengers was 1,131,503.

In May, airBaltic operated 5,358 flights, or as much as in May 2010, when airBaltic operated 5,381 flights. Between January and the end of May, the airline provided 22,413 flights in all.

The airline’s load factor, which represents the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of available seats, in May 2011 was at a level of 74% - or 5% points more than in May 2010. During the first five months of 2011 the airline’s load factor was at a level of 69%, or 5% points more than in the same period last year.

The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was at a level of 91.4% in May 2011. This means that more than 91 of every 100 airBaltic flights in April departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.
