OREANDA-NEWS. June 20, 2011. HRT Participacoes em Petroleo S.A. (the “Company” or “HRT”) (BM&FBOVESPA: HRTP3, TSX-V: HRP.V) announces that HRT Africa Petroleo S/A (“HRT Africa”), a division of HRT O&G Exploracao e Producao de Petroleo Ltda. (“HRT O&G”), will hold on June 17th the ceremony to inaugurate its office premises in Namibia.

HRT Africa is headed by Nelson Narciso Filho and its strategy is to conduct the exploration and production activities in twelve exploration blocks in offshore Namibia, where HRT holds interests, covering an area of 63,891 km2 (around 15.8 million acres). HRT is the operator in two blocks in the Walvis Sub-basin and eight blocks in the Orange Sub-basin. In addition, HRT has 2% participating interest, as non-operator, in two blocks of the Luderitz Sub-basin.

On the occasion of the event, the Company will also launch the HRT Blue Barrel project. Following the example of the Green Barrel project launched in Brazil on June 6th, 2011, this new initiative establishes that for each barrel produced by the company in offshore Namibia, HRT will donate NUSD  1 (NAD- Namibian Dollar) to sustainability projects related to the marine ecosystem. By the end of 2013, HRT expects to produce around 10,000 bbl/day, and by 2020, 350,000 bbl/day. This is the socio-environmental petroleum that generates energy, social welfare and environment preservation.
