Particularly, the volume of cash foreign currency purchase for Moldovan leis in May 2011 totaled USD 264.7 million, up 2.8% against April, and the volume of its sales grew 20.7% - to USD 70.8 million. Transactions with euros, totaling USD 192.7 million (57.4% of the total turnover) continued to dominate in the total turnover of foreign cash in May. Their volume increased by 2.1% in comparison with the previous month. At the same time, the volume of purchase of euros in May reduced by 4.1%, to USD 150 million, and the volume of sale – grew 31.8%, to USD 42.7 million.

The volume of transactions with the US dollar increased in May by 13.2 percent – to USD 115.9 million (34.6% of the total turnover). The volume of purchase of dollars increased by 15%, to USD 93 million, the volume of sales increased by 6.5%, to USD 22.9 million. The amount of transactions with Russian rubles in May totaled USD 22.9 million (6.8% of the total turnover), exceeding the previous month’s indicators by 7.5%. The volume of purchase of Russian rubles increased by 7.7%, to USD 19.7 million, the volume of sales – by 6.7%, to USD 3.2 million. The volume of transactions with Romanian leis totaled in May USD 2 million (0.6% of the total turnover), having increased by 5.3%.

The volume of purchase of Romanian leis in May remained on the previous month’s level - USD 1 million, the volume of sales increased by 11.1% - to USD 1 million. Absolutely the same dynamics was reported with transactions with Ukrainian hrevnya. The volume of transactions with it in May increased by 5.3% - to USD 2 million, making up 0.6% of the total turnover. The volume of Ukrainian hrevnya purchase increased by 5.3%, to USD 1 million, sales – increased by 11.1%, to USD 1 million.
