OREANDA-NEWS. June 27, 2011. Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC, has commenced repair works on the 16 MVA power transformer at Yuzhnaya 110 kV substation (Samara). The repair operations are carried out as part of the annual repair program and preparations for the autumn/winter season 2011/2012. Such repair activities will allow to significantly increase the reliability of power supplies for consumers in Kuibyshevsky district of Samara.

Used for voltage conversion, the transformer equipment is the most important component of any substation. Repair works will include the selector switch and the contactor of the on-load tap-changer, as well as the detachable equipment (with replacement of valves, cocks and rubber gaskets). Besides, the following components will be replaced: the vent pipe (to be replaced with the safety valve), 110 kV high-voltage bushings, the on-load tap-changer actuator and the drain valve. The works will also include drying of the active part of the transformer, transformer oil drying and purification, cleaning and painting of the transformer exterior surfaces. Upon completion of repair and test operations, the transformer will work at operational load.

Yuzhnaya substation (110 kV) was put into operation in 1972. Accident-free operation of the power facility is a key factor determining reliable power supply for municipal enterprises (tracking substation of the tram and trolleybus dispatching office and the sewage and pumping station of Samaravodokanal), Kryazhskaya residential property management division, as well as power supply companies providing power for residential buildings in Kuibyshevsky district of Samara. Taking integrated and comprehensive measures on an annual basis, with a focus on repairs and replacement of electrical installations is a top-priority objective of Samara distribution grids ensuring uninterrupted power supply for consumers.
