OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2011. Rob Leith has been CEO of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) at Standard Bank since 2008. He joined the group in 1991 and has been an integral part of CIB’s success over many years. CIB has experienced extremely tough external conditions and pressures since 2008, and Mr Leith has led CIB diligently from London through these very testing times.

Following the previously announced tightening of Standard Bank Group’s strategy, it has become clear that the head of CIB should in future be based in Johannesburg rather than in London.

As a consequence, and with Rob Leith’s backing, David Munro, currently the head of CIB’s Investment Banking business, has been appointed CEO of CIB with effect from 1 July 2011. Mr Munro joined the group in 1996 and prior to his current position was the CEO of CIB’s South African business. He will report to Ben Kruger, Deputy Group Chief Executive.

Rob Leith will take on a new role as Head of Group Strategic Expansion, reporting to Jacko Maree. He will work closely with Mr Maree on the group’s various expansion initiatives, which will continue to be a key driver of Standard Bank’s growth strategy.
