OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2011. Sviaz-Bank and the International Analytics Unlimited Club have held a subject round table on the role of a project office in a bank’s strategic development. The round table drew representatives of leading Russian banks and companies specializing in project management, reported the press-centre of Sviaz-Bank.

The round table participants discussed Russian banks’ project management methodologies, reviewed current practices of project office establishment at several banks as an illustration, and examined basic software products suitable for setting up an automated project management system.

Alexei Samoilov, Director of Sviaz-Bank’s Project Technologies Department, said in his address: “Any idea claiming to be put into life first has to be tested on the basis of an analysis of costs, benefits, and risks. Analysis would help predict the costs of giving effect to the idea and the benefits to be expected, not to say save much time and funds needed to see it become a reality.”

To implement its development strategy and raise the efficiency of project management, Sviaz-Bank set up in 2010 and is today promoting vigorously a project office that is now coordinating efforts related to all strategic projects. According to Alexei Samoilov, beginning in 2011, the project office has been involved in all projects related to the Bank’s technological development and also development and introduction of new products and services. “We will have to develop a single information environment to manage the projects in the future,” said Alexei Samoilov in conclusion.
