OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2011. Moldova used almost half of the annual quota of duty free wine supplies to the EU by June 20, 2011.

48.7 thousand hectoliters of wines out of the 100-thousand-hectoliter quota provided for 2011 were exported in the preferential order as of that date, InfoMarket was informed at the Moldovan Ministry of Economy. At the same time, the wheat supply quota of 40,000 tones was drawn only at 25%. 9.94 thousand tones of wheat were exported and 29.3 thousand tones of the quota have remained unused. The barley quota in the volume of 31.4 thousand tones out of the approved 34 thousand tones has also remained unused. Moldova’s economic agents also haven’t used the duty free sugar export quota with the 2011 annual quota of 26 thousand tones.

At the same time, the maize quota has been used practically in full: 28.5 thousand tones have already been supplied to the EU out of the approved 30 thousand tones. It was reported earlier that the European Commission decided to increase the quota of the duty free wine supplies to the European Union for Moldova for 2011 by 80% - to 1.5 million deciliters, in 2012 – to 1.8 million deciliters and in 2013-2015 – to 2.4 million deciliters. In addition, it is proposed to increase the quotas for the duty free export of the grain, barley, maize by 5 thousand tones a year, to increase the quota to 50 thousand tones by 2015.
