OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2011. The first three cars were transferred to the subway in March of this year and have already been tested (start-up and break-tests) in the depot "Nevskoe", including on the line, with a maximum design speed 90 km/h. All traffic control system, traction drive and brake system have been established and operated in normal mode. The cars have shown required acceleration and deceleration, as well as required length of bracing distances in different versions of inhibition with different speeds.

After this delivery of the next three cars, at first the prototype six-car train will also be tested (start-up and break-tests) in order to make sure in efficiency of traction drive and all other systems. Based on the experience of such tests of the first three cars, now there is no doubt that the results will also be positive.

After that, the train will be held a full range of acceptance tests, with the involvement of specialized accredited organizations in their fields of activity. The test results will be presented to the acceptance committee, which will determine compliance of the train with the requirements of the Specification and they will decide whether to use it with passengers on the metro lines.

NeVa Project comprises design and development of new underground cars of the 4th generation, and construction of new type of high-technology innovational production for underground trains assembling. The Project’s main objectives are to create high-efficient and highly profitable production of new generation subway cars. There are no similar cars in production in Russia or other CIS countries.

Firstly, the concept of a new electric train was presented at the II St. Petersburg International Innovation Forum in September 2009. By the year-end results, NeVa was named as the St. Petersburg Best Innovative Project for the Purposes of Municipal Economy, and won the prize of the St. Petersburg Government, in compliance with the City program on innovations support.

In January 2011, the Governor Mrs. Valentina Matvienko and other leaders of the St. Petersburg Administration visited VAGONMASH CJSC in anticipation of the transfer of the first NeVa series cars for tests to SUE St. Petersburg Underground.

In 2011, it is expected to receive the Compliance Certificate for NeVa subway cars, with their further participation in the tender for supply of 6 cars for SUE St. Petersburg Underground.
