OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2011. The First vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev said at a meeting with vice Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thonhlun Sisulit that Ukraine was interested in expanding trade and economic cooperation with Laos.

According to Andriy Klyuyev we should accelerate the preparation and signing of the Agreement on trade-economic cooperation between Ukraine and Laos.

As the First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine said, two countries had prospects for cooperation in several areas: aircraft, industrial machinery and apparatus, mining and exploration, energy and agriculture.

Thonhlun Sisulit noted that Laos was particularly interested in the Ukrainian investments in the Lao mining and energy sectors. He said that his country would also like to supply to Ukraine coffee, bananas and other tropical fruits.

Participants of the meeting agreed that in the nearest future the Lao side will provide for Ukraine detailed information about proposed investment projects, as well as the legal framework that defines the regulatory and investment environment of Laos. They also reached a preliminary agreement on conduct of business forum with participation of Laos and Ukraine companies interested in cooperation, which could have discussed specific projects.
