OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2011. Particularly, the credit agreements on financing the Governance e-Transformation Project and the Social Assistance Network Efficiency Enhancement Project worth USD 20 million and USD 37 million were signed, the Ministry of Finance’s press service reported.

The loan for the Governance e-Transformation Project will be provided by the WB for 20 years with a 10-year grace period at 0.75 percent p.a., and the Social Assistance Network Efficiency Enhancement Project – for 40 years, with a 10-year grace period at the same interest rate. The main objective of the first project is to transform delivery of the selected public services using Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs).

Transformational impact will be achieved through creating an opportunity for citizens and businesses to interact with government using web portals and mobile phones without a face-to-face contact, undertaking legal and regulatory reforms, and changing the mindsets of public servants and broader population through large-scale public communications and training and activities.

The  Social Assistance Network Efficiency Enhancement Project will enable to enhance the financial sustainability of the social assistance system and to optimize the administration, governance and transparency of the social assistance system in Moldova. The project aims to support the Government of Moldova’s commitment to tackling the budget deficit cut along with ensuring economic growth and poverty reduction. Addressed compensations for public utilities, children’s allowances, disability grants and other payments will be paid under the project.
