OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2011. AFP reported that China top oil producer said Wednesday it had agreed to further develop oil cooperation with Sudan during a visit by the African country leader Mr Omar al-Bashir.

The company said Mr Jiang Jiemin president of National Petroleum Corp signed a memorandum of understanding with Sudan minister of state for oil, Mr Ali Ahmed Osman to deepen cooperation in the oil and gas field.

It said in a statement that the agreement was signed at CNPC headquarters in Beijing in the presence of Bashir, the first day of his official visit to China. It gave no further details.

China Business News said citing official data that Sudan is China sixth largest source of overseas oil and accounts for more than 5% of crude imports in the world second biggest economy.
