OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2011. The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine presented to representatives of the European Union matrix of evaluation indicators of the national transport strategy for 2010 and first quarter of 2011 in the framework of implementation of sector budget support program "Support to implementation of the transport strategy of Ukraine". State the conditions under which Ukraine will be given a grant from the European Union were discussed at a meeting of the Joint Monitoring Group in the ministry.

"The main purpose of the meeting - to consider reports on progress in 2010 and in the first quarter of 2011 indicators of sector budget support program "Support to implementation of the transport strategy of Ukraine" as well as plans for the next period", - said Director of Policy of Development Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Oleksii Baranov. According to him, identified 11 indicators according to which the EU tracks the state of process of reforms in the industry - the main goal of providing financial support amounting to EUR 65 million Funds would come by 2014 four tranches, the amount of which is divided into fixed and specified. "If there is evidence that reform occurs, then the amount due will be paid. A fixed amount that the Ministry will over 4 years is 27 million. The remaining 38 million Euros - with the introduction of reforms in accordance with the indicators"- Oleksii Baranov said.

It is expected that the first tranche of EUR 12 million will come in autumn. "Now we coordinate with the Ministry of Finance of the use of these funds. It is assumed their involvement for infrastructure projects and for consulting support to the Ministry. It is specified a list of these projects and the end of July of this year we will promulgate it", - the Director of Policy of Development of Infrastructure of Transport and Tourism said.

"We are extremely happy with cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and all other representatives of the Ukrainian side," - the head of the project "Support for Ukraine's integration into Trans-European transport network" Alen Hodri said. According to him, practical results of cooperation in the framework of the Programme are already tangible and, particularly in the aviation sector. "For the project on 17 training sessions conducted by experts from the European Union to Ukraine for training of airports and aviation industry norms and standards of the aviation in European countries", - Alen Hodri informed.

Recall that the EU budget support is aimed on reforming of transport sector of Ukraine, in particular, railway, improving security on motorways, in airspace and navigation, growth of transport streams through Ukraine and reduction the international level of the legislation of transport branch.
