OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2011. JSC RusHydro (ticker symbol: RTS, MICEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX: RSHYY) announces that RusHydro's subsidiary - Irganayskaya hydropower plant - put into commercial operation restored hydraulic unit no. 2 with installed capacity of 200 MW. This is the second hydro-unit of the Irganayskaya HPP that was restored after it had been damaged by fire at the plant in September 2010. Hydro-unit no. 1 was put into operation a month ago in accordance with the master schedule.

Thorough and prolonged repair and recovery works on the main and auxiliary equipment and buildings of the power plant preceded  the commissioning. 72 hours pre-commissioning tests with load of 200 MW were carried out to make sure the unit is ready for commercial operation.

Irganayskaya HPP is located in the Untsukulsky district of the Republic of Dagestan on the Avarskoye Koysu river. Construction of the plant was started in 1977, the first hydraulic unit was put into operation in 1998. Available capacity - 400 MW, total installed capacity - 800 MW. Number of operating hydraulic units - 2, planned number of hydraulic units - 4. Annual average generation of electricity - 1280 mln kW·h. The HPP was build using a dam and water diverting scheme. This HPP is Russia's largest diversion hydropower plant.
