OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2011. The Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Belgorod region (Belgorod OFAS Russia) fined “Uralmetkom-Oskol” Ltd. 71 Rubles, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The case was initiated upon a petition of “TK Aktiv Chernozemya” Ltd. that “Uralmetkom-Oskol” Ltd. unreasonably lowered prices for ferrous metal scrap.

The Commission of Belgorod OFAS Russia established that “Uralmetkom-Oskol” Ltd. violated Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” and issued a determination to eliminate the violation. The company abused its dominance on the market of ferrous metal scrap by unreasonably lowering prices buying goods from “TK Aktiv Chernozemya” Ltd.

Belgorod OFAS Russia imposed an administrative fine upon “Uralmetkom-Oskol” Ltd.

“In this situation the monopolist effectively was pushing “TK Aktiv Chernozemiya” Ltd. from the market of ferrous metal scrap and was punished under the Code on Administrative Violations”, said the Head of Belgorod OFAS Russia, Mr. Sergey Petrov.
