OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2011. The deficit of the balance of trade of Moldova in January-May 2011 totaled USD 1,129.9 million, up USD 284.4 million or 33.6% year-on-year. At the same time, the deficit of the balance of trade of Moldova with the EU states for the first give months of this year increased by 28.8 percent – to USD 439.8 million, with the CIS states – by 30.6% - to USD 342.7 million, according to the National Statistics Office.

The degree of coverage of import by export in January-May 2011 made up 42.3% against 37.5% for the same period last year. Moldova had the biggest deficit of the balance of trade in January-May this year with Ukraine – USD 176.6 million (+24.3% in comparison with the same period of 2010).

It was followed by Chinau: - USD 138.4 million (+28.7%), Russia – USD 127.3 million (+6.2%), Germany - USD 101.5 million (+34%), Turkey - USD 99.7 million (2.3 times), Romania - USD 64.4 million (+41.4%), Italy- USD 52.7 million (+31%), Belarus – USD 36.6 million (4.7 times), Hungary – USD 31.1 million (+55.4%), Austria – USD 31.1 million (+64.3%).
