OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2011. Inflation for the last 12 month – from June 2010 through June 2011 – amounted to 7.7 percent, InfoMarket was informed at the National Statistics Office. Food prices in Moldova in January-June 2011 grew 6.5 percent, prices for nonfoods – 2 percent, prices for services rendered to population – 7.1 percent.

In June 2011, food prices increased in the republic by 0.4 percent, prices for services provided to population rose by 0.1 percent. At the same time, prices for nonfoods reduced by 0.1 percent. The biggest growth of prices in June this year among foodstuffs was registered for diet eggs – by 10.6 percent, potato – 5.8 percent, sugar – 4 percent, soft drinks and fresh fruit – by 2.3 percent. At the same time, prices for fresh vegetables in June reduced by 5.1 percent. Prices for meat products decreased by 1.8 percent, pork and sheep cheese – by 0.5% each.

According to the official statistics, in June, prices for most nonfoods remained unchanged. At the same time, fuel’s cost went down 1.1 percent, including liquefied gas in cylinders – 6 percent and fuel of motor transport – 0.2 percent. Prices for clothes, computers, mobile telephones and some household appliances reduced by 0.3 percent.

According to the National Statistics Office’s data, prices for inter-state rail transportation in June this year grew 5.3 percent, air transportation – 1.3 percent.
