OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2011. National Company “KazMunayGas” (hereinafter – NC KMG) and Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. (hereinafter - SKD) set up a seminar in Astana on “Corporate PR Tools”.

Specialists and managers of the press service and PR departaments of the affiliate enterprises of JSC “National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna” and affiliate organizations of NC KMG took part in the seminar.

Nick Wood, Vice-President Communications of Shell Upstream International shared with the workshop participants strategic approaches and key processes on reputation management in Shell.

Mr. Wood noted a specific role of Communications department in Shell which purpose is to provide effective communication and engagement with stakeholders that build a positive and distinctive Shell brand and reputation.

- Communications department is respected owner of Shell’s corporate reputation and brand, that’s why we pay special attention to implementation of the most innovative PR tools both in the technical and ideological views, - said Nick Wood.

Mr. Kanat Nurov, President of scientific and educational foundation “Aspandau” took the floor with the presentation on “PR as Political Tools of the Corporate Marketing Strategy”.

In conclusion the participants of the seminar noted practical relevance of the event that facilitated to systemize knowledge in the sphere of corporate PR management, analyze implemented up-to-date processes in major international companies and also extend range of PR-technologies as instruments of strategic business development and value creation.

Nick Wood has worked for Shell for almost 20 years in external affairs and communications in a variety of countries including Nigeria, China, Kazakhstan, Brunei and Oman. Prior to taking up his current appointment in January 2007 he spent seven years in China as Director of External Affairs for Shell working closely on several high profile projects involving considerable social and environmental challenges, including the resettlement of people. Before joining Shell he was a journalist working in Britain and the Asia-Pacific.

At various times he worked in Almaty School of Management, in Fund for Support of Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in Farmers Association under the Ministry of Agriculture, in the international audit and consulting company “Deloitte & Touche” as Vice-President, as Chief Financial Officer - in JSC Kazakhtelecom, as Managing Director - in JSC Kazkommertsbank.

Now he is the President of scientific and educational foundation “Aspandau”. Has issued several books, amongst – scientific work "Legal and Economic Modernization of traditional structure of Kazakhstan, development strategy in the Republic of Kazakhstan "Information society-2030", "Kazakhstan: National Idea and Traditions".
