OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2011. The first round of talks over Moldova’s joining the European Single Sky will be held on July 27.  It was said by Prime Minister Vladimir Filat at the meeting with Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaite. As it was reported earlier, the European Commission’s mandate for holding talks with Moldova over the Agreement on the European Single Sky was approved on June 16, 2011 at the EU’s transport meeting.

According to the Moldovan Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, signing of the agreement with the EU will enable Moldovan airlines to extend their activity in the European Union states, to improve quality of services, will encourage competition on the air market, contribute to the growth of the inflow of tourists and reduction in prices for air tickets.

It will also open new opportunities for development of airports in Chisinau, Balti, Marculesti and Cahul. The Single European Sky comprises all EU states, countries- candidates for joining, Switzerland an Norway.
