OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2011. Ningxia Petrochemical Company laid the foundation for its 450Kt/a synthetic ammonia and 800Kt/a urea project in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. This is CNPC’s first and largest state-of-the-art fertilizer project to be designed and constructed using the company’s independently developed technologies with intellectual property rights, reported the press-centre of CNPC.

Joint R&D by Ningxia Petrochemical Company and China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation gave birth to the ammonia technology package and urea technology package, including significant breakthroughs.

Upon completion of the project, Ningxia Petrochemical will become China’s largest fertilizer production base, boasting an annual fertilizer production of 3 million tons. This will put an end to China’s long dependence on foreign technologies in nitrogenous fertilizer production, and is significant to CNPC’s strategic restructuring of its refining business, and also the economic and social development of Ningxia.
