OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2011. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum’s Organizing Committee held its concluding meeting for the 2011 Forum on July 15, 2011. The members of the Organizing Committee reviewed the results of the Forum and discussed directions for its further growth. The dates of next year’s Forum were confirmed as June 21–23, 2012. The committee opted to recommend maintaining and enhancing the topic of the role of developing countries in the world economy, in the programme for the upcoming Forum.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is the main annual economic summit of Russia and the CIS states – the “Russian Davos”. The Forum has been held in St. Petersburg evey June since 1997 and is conducted in the form of plenary sessions, roundtables, exhibitions, presentations of investment projects, and business meetings and negotiations in which presidents, the heads of governments and parliaments of different countries, and the heads and representatives of international organizations, as well as businessmen, experts, scholars and public figures participate.
