OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2011. Particularly, in May this year, industrial output increased by 4.9 percent compared to May last year, the National Statistics Bureau reports.

The industrial output growth in January-May 2011 was determined by the increase in the mining industry – by 17.8 percent and in manufacturing – by 10.6 percent. At the same time, production and distribution of electricity and heat decreased by 3% from a year earlier. Production of foodstuffs and beverages during the first five months of 2011 climbed 1.7 percent in Moldova. Particularly, production of finished food for animals grew 2.5 times, production of canned fruit and vegetables – 22%.

Production, processing and canning of meat increased 4.1 percent, diary production – 2.5 percent. A considerable growth in January-May this year was reported by enterprises producing machines and equipment – 1.6 times. Production of other non-metal mineral products (glass, cement, gypsum and others) grew 26.5 percent, tobacco products – 21.6 percent, metallurgic industry – 18.3 percent, leather and shoes – 9.9 percent, clothes – 6.5 percent, textile production – 5.9 percent, furniture – 5.9 percent.

Production of wood and goods made of wood increased by 5.9 percent, At the same time, output of vegetable and animal oils in January-May 2011 reduced by 7.3 percent, paper and cardboard – 5.7%. Reduction in provision of steam and hot water was 4.3 percent, production and distribution of electric power – 2 percent, production of beverages – 1%.
