OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2011. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation today announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for June 2011 and for the first six months of Calendar Year (CY) 2011.
 
June 2011
Production: global total and Japan
Total global production for June came in at 106,267 units, 15.1 percent up over June 2010 and the first consecutive year-on-year monthly increase since May this year. Production volume in Japan at 59,069 units was 8.1 percent up, the first consecutive year-on-year monthly increase since May this year. Passenger car output at 53,283 units was 9.9 percent up. Commercial vehicle output at 5,786 units was 6.7 percent down.

Sales in Japan
Vehicle sales in Japan in June totaled 14,118 units, 10.0 percent down on the same month last year and the tenth consecutive monthly year-on-year decline since September 2010. Sales of passenger cars at 9,999 units were 13.7 percent down while sales of commercial vehicles at 4,119 units were 0.7 percent up over the same month last year. Registered vehicle sales volume at 5,363 units was 10.9 percent down while minicar sales volume at 8,855 units was 9.4 percent down on the same month last year.

Production overseas
Overseas production volume totaled 47,198 units, 25.3 percent up over June last year and the sixth consecutive monthly year-on-year increase since January this year. By region, output in Asia at 36,425 units was 19.4 percent up year on year boosted chiefly by 37.4 percent and 25.9 percent increases at MMTh in Thailand and KRM in Indonesia respectively. In China, output at 7,301 units was 3.6 percent down on June last year. In North America, output at 4,719 units was 403.6 percent up over the same month last year boosted by strong fleet orders. In Europe, output at 1,708 units was 12.1 percent down on last year due to sluggish sales in the region.  In South America output at 4,110 units was 7.0 percent up over June last year.

Export shipments from Japan
Total exports from Japan of 47,096 units were 25.5 percent up on June 2010, marking the first year-on-year rise since February this year. Exports to Asia at 8,444 units were 60.2 percent up year on year mainly on the back of strong sales in China. Exports to North America at 7,206 units were 93.3 percent up over June last year as sales grew both in the United States and Canada. Exports to Europe at 18,275 units were 7.4 percent up year on year.
 
January - June 2011
Production: global total and Japan
In the first six months of CY 2011 total global production at 585,526 units rose 4.4 percent over the same period in 2010, the second year-on-year half-term increase since the first half of CY 2010. Production volume in Japan at 304,668 units was 0.6 percent down on the previous year, the first decline for the period since the first half of 2009. At 270,890 units passenger car output was 0.1 percent up and at 33,778 units commercial vehicle output was 5.8 percent down on the same period in 2010.

Sales in Japan
Total vehicle sales in the Japanese market for the first six months of CY 2011 at 77,895 units were 18.0 percent down to register the first decrease since the first half of CY 2009. Sales of passenger cars at 56,668 units were 21.6 percent down and commercial vehicles at 21,227 units were 6.7 percent down. Registered vehicle sales volume at 27,578 units was 27.6 percent down and minicar sales volume at 50,317 units was 11.6 percent down over the same period last year.

Production overseas
Overseas production for the first six months of CY 2011 totaled 280,858 units, 10.3 percent up over the previous year, and the first consecutive half-term increase since the first half of CY 2010. By region, output in Asia at 223,738 units was 9.7 percent up over the same period last year, boosted chiefly by 20.2 percent and 42.0 percent increases at MMTh in Thailand and KRM in Indonesia respectively. In China, output at 53,832 units was 14.0 percent down on the same period last year. In North America, output at 22,201 units was 69.6 percent up over 2010, boosted by fleet orders. In Europe, output at 13,754 units was 9.3 percent down due to sluggish sales. In South America output at 19,350 units was 2.4 percent down year on year.

Export shipments from Japan
Exports from Japan for the first six months of CY 2011 at 222,052 units registered a 10.2 percent increase over the same period last year, the second consecutive half-term increase since the first half of CY 2010. By region, export shipments to Asia at 31,460 units were 28.3 percent up year on year. Exports to North America at 28,690 units were 30.8 percent up year on year. Shipments to Europe at 94,079 units were 34.2 percent up year on year.
